Mit o nastanku Vipavske doline

"This is from the time when God was creating our little piece of the world around here. First, he stopped the sea and the Vipava plain. And it seemed terribly beautiful to him. But the devil, who was always bothering him, didn't rest even then. He carried stones into the sea and rolled large rocks into it, so the water flooded the entire plain. God called the little angels for help. He gave each one a sack and ordered them to carry those devilish rocks and stones up towards Triglav. But the devil didn't give up and cut the angels' sacks so that the stones spilled out along the way. That's why there are so many small stones in the Karst today. When the angels were resting on Gora, the devil crept out of the chasms, which are everywhere around here, and cut their sacks even more, so that huge rocks fell out. When God noticed what he was doing, he struck the devil somewhere near Otlica, and he flew through the rock, creating a hole. Since then, the entire Gora has been just one stone. The sea no longer floods the Vipava Valley. But the devil bothered not only the Gorjans but also the people in the valley. He planted grapevines on the hills..."
