Barbera-Merlot Vipava
As the name itself suggests, the wine Barbera-Merlot Vipava is a blend made of two renowned world wine varieties: Barbera and Merlot.
The mixture of both offers a very drinkable, light, fresh and harmonious wine with pronounced acidity and low level of tannins.
Vintage: 2010
Variety: 60 % Barbera, 40 % Merlot.
Grape growing and winemaking details:
- Vineyard: Terraced vineyards.
- Harvest: Harvested by hand, last week of September.
- Maceration: Four days at a temperature below 28 ºC.
- Fermentation: Controlled, in stainless steel vats.
- Maturation: In stainless steel vats.
Wine description:
- Colour: Deep, lively red colour.
- Nose: Gentle fruity scent with prevailing varietal aroma of Barbera.
- Palate: Plum skins, lively fruity character.
- Harmony: Slightly higher acidity complements the wine's fruity character perfectly.
- Ageing potential: Up to 3 years.
Wine parameters:
- Alcohol: 12 %vol.
- Sugar content: Dry, 2,2 g/l of residual sugar.
- Total acidity: 5,4 g/l.
- Serving temperature: 14 - 16 ºC.
- Marriage of food and wine: Beef and lamb dishes, smoked meat, matured hard cheeses.
