The Lože vineyard lies in the upper Vipava Valley. It is not an integral vineyard and it encompasses several separate locations.
Lokavec: on the lower part, the ground is made of flysch, mingled with clay while on the upper part flysch is dominant (here the ground is more permeable). The vineyard is turned towards the south so the vines mostly bathe in sunshine. The climate is more continental, although sometimes the mild influence of the Mediterranean can be felt from the west.
Lože – Slap – Manče: The terrain is quite varied. The vineyards face south and west some are also turned towards the north. The ground make-up is also varied: the ground can be clay or gravel, but it is mostly made of flysch. The vineyards are placed somewhat higher up to 250 metres above sea level. The climate is mostly continental. Some vineyards are subject to the wind Burja (a strong, north-eastern wind), while the others are protected. But of course Burja also sets a special mark on certain grapes and wines.
In the Lože vineyards we grow the following varieties:
- red: Pinot Noir, Merlot, Syrah, Barbera,
- white: Sauvignon Blanc, Pinela, Zelen, Welschriesling, Pikolit, Rebula.
