The Bilje Low Hills

The Bilje Low Hills are the largest and the most picturesque vineyard in Slovenia. They are made up of 240 hectares of gently rolling hills which rise up from 50 to 70 metres above sea level. There is a strong influence of the Mediterranean climate in the Bilje Low Hills, which comes from the west, from the sea. This Mediterranean mildness is nicely reflected in the grapes and wine. The ground is made from flysch, that is permeable marlstone, one of the best possible soils for vineyards.
In the vineyard Bilje Low Hills we grow the following varieties:
  • red: Merlot, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon,
  • white: Malvasia, Sauvignon Blanc, Welschriesling, Yellow Muscat.
